2012 Reserva

Hello Friends,

Today’s Quick Sip is the Quinta De Cabriz 2012 Reserva from the Dão region of Portugal. Located south of the renowned Douro Valley, famous for fortified wines (i.e., Port); the Dão region is notable for its dry red table wines.

Touriga Nacional, a key component in fine ports, is indigenous to Dão. It is the leading red grape in the area and all DOC red blends require a minimum of 20%. Other grapes used are Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Alfrocheiro Preto, and Jaen (Mencia), just to name a few. Those of you familiar with red blends from Portugal know the region regularly delivers good everyday satisfaction at affordable price points. Since many of us have turned the corner to spring, it's time to fire up the grill.
